Robert “Cold” Steel, Captain USAR Retired was born on April 26, 1958 being raised and reared as a native of West Helena Arkansas. A 1977 graduate of Central High School and a 1982 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in business marketing. In 1982, besides receiving a college degree, he was also commissioned as second lieutenant in the US Army with service to this country in an active and reserve duty status. In becoming and as an Army Captain this book details his service as commander to an embattled army reserve command that went from a disbandment posture to a conflict support readiness posture, ultimately mobilized in support of Operation Desert Storm. Captain Steel served in various command positions in specialized training, operations, and logistics receiving numerous awards and citations before retiring honorably from military service. Additionally, he spent almost twenty years of service employed with the State of Arkansas instituting accreditation, oversight of Department of Justice agreements and court ordered juvenile rehabilitation and treatment activities. He is currently retired, but remains committed to practicing his faith, teaching the principles of God and giving service to others.
